Australia's leading architects will attempt to answer this question at the Museum of Sydney's 'Superhouse: architecture and interiors beyond the everyday' exhibition.
Sydney Living Museums is presenting 'Superhouse: architecture and interiors beyond the everyday', at the Museum of Sydney until November 29, 2015.
'Superhouse' showcases some of the world's most extraordinary homes and interesting living spaces, from a small, prefabricated space designed overnight, to a reimagined 16th-century castle.
"The exhibition demonstrates how architectural experimentation and daring can challenge notions of how we should live. A superhouse delivers a 360-degree completeness of form, its exterior and interior have a seamless execution and above all else, it is awe-inspiring," said exhibition curator Karen McCartney.
The exhibition features photography by Richard Powers, and is drawn from McCartney's publication of the same name. Local examples anchor the exhibition in its Museum of Sydney context. Feature furniture, interior details, and filmed interviews help to illustrate what makes a house 'super'.
The exhibition will be supported by a series of talks curated by McCartney featuring some of Australia's leading architects, including Hannah Tribe, James Stockwell, and Virginia Kerridge.
