Mehajer and his bride Aysha, whose weekend wedding came with its own "must watch" video and led to the closure of an entire street in Lilyfield, both work for his family business, Sydney Building Construction Pty Ltd which is also called Sydney Project Group.
The firm does pre-construction planning, general trades contracting, construction development, construction management, design, build, building management and Strata, project management and general contracting.
"As a member of the Management Team, Salim contributes to the development and implementation of Sydney Group’s strategic planning and oversees the daily operations of the business," the company's website states. "He ensures that optimal operating procedures are implemented throughout the company and gives direction to employees, ensuring they remain highly motivated." He is also Deputy Mayor of Auburn council in Sydney's west.
As a project manager, Aysha has experience on projects ranging up to $350 million, the website states.
