Reducing the number of heavy vehicles and traffic noise in urban areas not only impacts property values, but the overall livability, amenity and safety of the suburb.
The Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA) supports the proposal put forward by Main Roads to the State Government for improved surface road infrastructure or a tunnel to be built under Beaconsfield and White Gum Valley as part of the Perth Freight Link.
The tunnel solution in particular will have a positive impact on the area in the long run by removing heavy vehicles and excess traffic from suburban streets.
It has been shown in the past that infrastructure investment does have a positive impact on long term property prices based on previous projects such as the Northbridge Tunnel and Servetus Street project.
Reducing the number of heavy vehicles and traffic noise in urban areas not only impacts property values, but the overall livability, amenity and safety of the suburb. This results in a much higher demand for properties in the area.
Whilst other factors impact on property values, the timing of the property cycle also needs to be considered especially when the market is softening.
