The 16 finalists of LJ Hooker's Million Dollar Intern competition are online, and voting is open to the public. The winner gets to work alongside LJ Hooker Double Bay's Bill Malouf for three months.
LJ Hooker has revealed the 16 finalists of its Million Dollar Intern competition.
Videos of the finalists can be viewed online, and the general public can vote for the person they think is most worthy of the opportunity of a lifetime, a three-month paid internship alongside LJ Hooker's leading agent, Bill Malouf.
The search for Australia's top intern began in March, and was open to those who have worked in real estate for less than two years. There were more than 200 entries, showing just how coveted the position with Malouf is.
The finalists were chosen according to their submission video presentation, which required the contestant to deliver a sales pitch, their Caliper behavioural testing results, and a phone interview.
LJ Hooker’s Chief of Network, Graeme Hyde, said the quality of video submissions was high.
“There was such a vast array of passionate entries; it became very hard to narrow it down," he said.
"We saw people selling anything from a pen, a chicken, vintage cars, and cities,” explained Hyde.
“Our best submissions showcased a clear and succinct presentation style and exuded confidence," said Hyde.
Malouf sells property to celebrities and CEOs from Point Piper to Bellevue Hill. He sells, on average, more than $300 million worth of prestige property a year.
“I’m very excited to have the chance to unearth the brightest new talent for real estate in Australia,” he said, adding the range of people who applied was impressive.
"From school leavers to people looking to change industries, there’s a real hunger for this life-changing experience, and if you have that hunger, it doesn’t really matter what their background is," he said.
The winning intern will be given Sydney accommodation and an AUDI car for the duration of the internship, as well as a new business wardrobe.
The next stage of the competition is a public vote to determine the 'people’s choice winner'. This person, as well as two other finalists will meet and be interviewed by Malouf himself.
