Children will be given an opportunity to build their own model house and learn about architecture in a Sydney Architecture Festival workshop on 2 October.
Children will be shown how to build a model house at a 'Supermodels: Architects of Tomorrow' workshop as part of the Sydney Architecture Festival.
The children will be given a kit that contains all the parts that are required to make a model of an Australian house. The design is based on a house designed by architect James Grose.
Architects and architecture students will be available to offer advice and guidance, and to explain why the house doesn't have a pitched roof, and why the walls are mainly made of glass. They will talk to the children about what architects consider when designing Australian houses.
Brian Clohessy, Studio Director of BVN Sydney, says the "programme offers experiences that transform the way people understand the places they live, work and play in every day.”
The event will be open to children between the ages of 8 and 12, and will be held on Sunday 2 October 2016 between 10am and noon at The Brewery Yards Market, 28 Broadway, Chippendale.
