McGrath has opened a new office in Shellharbour on the NSW South Coast, where lifestyle and affordability are driving property prices and rental yields higher.
McGrath Estate Agents has opened its 92nd office, with a new franchise office opening in Shellharbour on the NSW South Coast.
McGrath is growing its offices on the NSW South Coast because, according to Executive Director, John McGrath, the region offer an attractive lifestyle at more affordable prices than Sydney.
Shellharbour is a busy coastal town only two hours from Sydney. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches, lakes and national parks in the country.
McGrath Shellharbour will service the suburbs of Shell Cove, Flinders, Blackbutt, Warilla and Lake Illawarra.
The new office will be led by Principals Trever Molenaar and Jordan Andonovski, and will be the third McGrath franchise office under their leadership.
Three sales agents, Ben Frawley, Matthew Kasbarian and Jonas Marcelo, will move to the new office from McGrath Woollongong.
Molenaar said Shellharbour is a popular lifestyle destination, and appeals to a wide demographic of buyers, from local upgraders to Sydneysiders seeking a seachange.
Mr Molenaar said property values have increased steadily over the past five years. Since 2011 the median house price in Shellharbour has increased by 45.3%, according to CoreLogic.
“A strong focus and investment in infrastructure, retail and lifestyle precincts, namely the Stockland Shellharbour Shopping Centre redevelopment and the upcoming $1.5 billion Shell Cove marina precinct, have been strong economic and lifestyle drivers for the local area,” said Molenaar.
Rental demand in the region is also healthy, with Shellharbour Council Area reporting a 9.5% increase in house rents in the 12 months to June.
Andonovski said, with such strong rental returns, the area is popular with investors.
Shellharbour and surrounding suburbs offer a diverse range of properties from two-bedroom apartments to multi-million dollar homes. According to Andonovski, Shellharbour’s prestige market is starting to build momentum.
“With the top-end market in Shellharbour starting to gain traction, we felt there was now more than ever a need for six-star service and McGrath fills that gap in the market,” he said.
McGrath now has 28 company-owned offices, and 64 franchise offices.
