The festival opened on Wednesday night and will include a series of forums and events over the weekend.
With the theme of 'Life on the Edge,' this year's festival will explore the relationship, both present and future, between Adelaide's CBD and outer suburbs. The festival is aimed at revealing the possibilities of architecture and design by educating, inspiring and engaging the public.
Over 40 events are planned for the festival, which will run from Thursday 8 October, until Tuesday 13 October. Events will include talks, forums, exhibitions, children's activities, and walks, and will cover ideas as diverse as Adelaide's small-bar culture, the possibilities of driverless cars, heritage and innovation, women in design, and sustainability.
The popular Open House Adelaide program will returns for the fourth year in a row, giving the public an opportunity to peek inside award-winning residential projects.
Another highlight is the High/Hi Adelaide Rooftop tour with landscape architect Ying Qian, which will visit some of Adelaide most interesting rooftop spaces.
Renowned architect Peter Stutchbury is also presenting The Australian Institute of Architects' 2015 Gold Medal address.
The opening was held on Wednesday night as an open street party on Leigh Street, which has been transformed by clever streetscaping, and the opening of bars and restaurants. The venue was chosen to showcase a great example of the ways design can improve livability.
