Agents are expecting huge interest for The Block's first apartment.
The Block apartment built by Sydney couple Josh Terrett and Charlotte Ekas will be the first property from the latest series to go to auction. Mark Konishi of hockingstuart South Yarra is the listing agent for the South Yarra apartment, and David Wood of hockingstuart Albert Park is the auctioneer.
Konishi said a date has not yet been set but the auction is expected to take place at the end of April. The property will first be advertised on March 30, and the first opening will be April 4. The public will be able to view the property on April 11 and 12. Konishi said the property will be marketed through Domain, Realestate.com.au, Thehomepage.com.au, MillionPlus and also on hockingstuart's own website.
"There's going to be a lot of work qualifying who is who and whether they have a genuine interest," said Konishi. "We will hit up our existing database for clients that are already looking at this price point, and also our owners. Our office sold the first series of The Block in Melbourne in Richmond in 2010 so that was a learning curve for us. There will be some people who will bluff their way through and come in just to have a look."
Konishi said he expected to see international, interstate and local interest. "In South Yarra, we have a lot of regional Victorian interest as well as interstate people who realize Melbourne provides more value for money than Sydney prices."
